Tuesday, 31 May 2011, 14:00 - 15:30

Hosted by the Centre on Conflict, Development and Peacebuilding (CCDP), Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies

This panel seeks to debate the methodological challenges and tradeoffs that organizations and evaluators face in attempting to monitor and evaluate programming in the fields of security and peacebuilding. Drawing on numerous evaluation and assessment mandates recently conducted by the CCDP, this panel will critically discuss a variety of quantitative and qualitative approaches applied. What types of monitoring and evaluation activities are necessary to improve organizational performance, and can ‘mixed method’ designs further the utility of such activities on both country and program levels? Moreover, what must be taken into consideration to ensure an effective follow-up process?
