Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is my honor to inform you that the Center for Security Studies (CSS) and the International Relations and Security Network (ISN) at ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich) will host the forthcoming 9th International Security Forum (ISF). The ISF is titled “Regional and Global Security: Meeting Tomorrow’s Challenges Today ”. This high-level conference will take place from 30 May – 1 June 2011 at the Kongresshaus in Zurich.
As a Swiss government contribution to the Partnership for Peace program, the International Security Forum is supported by the Swiss Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport and the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
It gives us great pleasure to announce that Federal Councilor Ueli Maurer will open the conference.
This internationally renowned conference brings together over 500 experts with a security and political analysis background, including politicians, diplomats, civil servants, military officials, academics and representatives from non-governmental organizations. The ISF will be a unique opportunity for participants to engage in discussions, meet colleagues, and share ideas.
The conference opens with a plenary session and a keynote speech, followed by three topic sessions on day one. The second day features 24 panel sessions covering six themed areas ranging from terrorism to human security. The final day of the conference adds a further three topic sessions before concluding with a plenary session addressing power shifts and the international order. In all, the conference draws together over 100 leading international speakers from prestigious government, think tank and academic posts.
Major conference partners and co-organizers include the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP), the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF), the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), and the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva.
